Today we went for our first trainer, from 5 miles. The pigeons were released from 5pm (delayed because of the weather), in crates of 30 at a time, allowing each group to clear before releasing the next. There was another pigeon fancier who witnessed the training, and he congratulated us on having a good first toss. The birds cleared well and headed in the right direction.
As for Benzing, i will get my head around it one day, I’m sure! I haven’t counted the pigeons yet, but returns looks good. I’m very happy with the way they beat me home, so we’ll have one more toss there tomorrow and if all goes fine we’ll be moving on to the 10 mile spot.
The pigeons will all be released together tomorrow. In future, if pigeons are released in small batches the clock won’t be on; we will only put the clock on when the pigeons are released together.
