Young Birds 2021 Ace Pigeon Winner

October 5th, 2021

K & J Zerafa: “Firstly can I congratulate the overall winner, Dav 973, on what was a fantastic bird on the day, well out in front and totally worthy of taking the spoils!

Our bird that finished 5th in the Final and 1st Ace Bird is bred out of a cock we bought from Roger Lowe, which is a double grandson of ‘Southfield Supreme’ who won 1st International Dax and was a super producer for Mark Gilbert. The dam of our bird is becoming a good producer for us being the dam to 20th Final RPRA OLR in 2020, also our good racing cock ‘Dear John’ who has won 1st Section 3rd Open NFC Fougeres, 2nd Section 11th Open BBC Messac etc. She is also dam to 13th Open BBC Fougeres plus many other good birds. Her breeding goes back to our old family of birds that were based around the Staf van Reet strain, with her dam being bred out of a hen that won 2x 1st Sections for us (NFC & BBC) and was the dam of 1st Open CSCFC. Her sire is a bird we bought at the total clearance sale of a Mr & Mrs Dickinson, bred out of a cock called ‘Terror’ who won 27x 1st plus numerous RPRA Sprint Awards and a hen called ‘Shelley’ who won the NWCC. So there’s plenty of winners throughout the pedigree.

“Unfortunately my father was unable to share in the moment with me as he passed away a few weeks ago, which was a total blow to me and my family. Me and Dad were best friends and did so much together, pigeons being the main thing that brought us so close. It took us on various trips together all across Europe and made us so many good friends. He would’ve loved this performance, but even more so he would’ve loved the prize money! He will be sorely missed. Love you Dad, this one’s for you my friend!”
